Invitations and permissions
A sharing invitation is a one-time code sent to an email address. The person who accepts must sign in to the BaubleStash account that uses that email.
Email may take a few minutes while delivery is retried. If it does not arrive, check spam and ask the sender to try again. An invitation confirmation does not guarantee inbox delivery.
The invitation email
The email includes:
- Who invited the recipient
- Whether they were invited to view or help edit
- A one-time invitation code
- A note that the invitation expires in seven days
BaubleStash never sends the owner’s password or private notes in the invitation.
Accepting the invitation
- Sign in to BaubleStash with the invited email address.
- Open Shared with me.
- Enter the code exactly as shown.
- Select Accept.
If the email address on the account does not match the invitation, the code will not work.
Invitation expiry
Invitations expire after seven days. If a code has expired, ask the owner to send a new invitation.
Canceling or revoking an invitation stops it from being accepted.
View Only
View Only is for family members who need to look things up, not change records.
View Only can:
- Browse the shared collection
- Open ornament and copy details
- View cloud-backed photos
- See box names and locations for shared copies
View Only cannot:
- Add or remove copies
- Edit condition or notes
- Change boxes
- Add or remove photos
- Manage sharing
Can Edit
Can Edit is for someone helping you care for the collection.
Can Edit can:
- Add a physical copy to an ornament already in the shared collection
- Change condition and notes on shared copies
Can Edit cannot:
- Delete copies
- Move copies between boxes or out of the collection
- Change box assignment
- Add or remove photos
- Change Best copy
- Invite other people
- See private totals or unshared boxes
- Manage your subscription
These limits are deliberate for this version. Do not promise a helper more access than the app provides.
Change a permission
- Open Shared with me.
- Find the person under People with access.
- Change the access setting.
- The change applies to future requests.
Revoke access
- Open Shared with me.
- Find the person.
- Select Revoke (web) or Revoke access (mobile).
- Confirm.
The recipient loses future access. Cached copies on their device may remain until the app refreshes, but they cannot fetch new private photos.
Multiple people
You can invite more than one person. Each person has their own permission.
