Who can see your photos
BaubleStash treats private ornament photos as private by default. Nothing is published to the shared catalog automatically.
Free photos stay on your phone
On the Free plan, photos are stored in the mobile app’s private storage on that device. They are not uploaded to BaubleStash.
That means:
- The website cannot show them.
- Another device cannot download them.
- A shared collection cannot include them.
- Uninstalling the app or losing the phone can remove them.
Your phone’s own backup system may behave differently. BaubleStash does not control iCloud, Google backup, or other device backup services.
Keep your own copy
If a photo matters to you, keep the original in your phone’s photo library or enable Plus cloud backup. Do not rely on app-private storage as your only copy.
Plus cloud photos are private
On Plus, you can turn on Cloud Photo Backup. Photos you upload are stored privately in your BaubleStash account.
They are visible to:
- You, on signed-in devices
- People you explicitly share My Stash with, according to their access
They are not visible to other collectors or the public catalog.
What sharing includes
A shared collection can show:
- Ornament details for copies in the shared collection
- Condition and notes
- Box name and location
- Cloud-backed photos attached to those copies
A shared collection does not include:
- Device-local Free photos
- Your private totals
- Unshared boxes or unrelated notes
- Photos from copies outside the shared collection
The recipient may have View Only or Can Edit access. Neither role can browse your whole account.
What catalog contributions include
When you contribute to the shared catalog, you select specific details and, optionally, specific cloud photos. Only the selected items are reviewed.
If approved, a selected photo may become a public catalog image. Your original private photo remains private unless you selected it for publication.
Free local photos cannot be selected through the website because the website cannot access them.
Photo metadata
BaubleStash processes uploaded photos to remove location and camera metadata before storing them. This reduces accidental disclosure of where a photo was taken.
Removing a photo
Removing a cloud photo removes it from your BaubleStash account. It does not remove a copy that may still exist in your phone’s photo library.

Export and deletion
Download My Data includes actual available private cloud photo files. On mobile, More → Account & data → Save or transfer local photos saves full available local images separately without Plus. Account deletion is deliberate and separate from Plus lapse; it does not cancel store billing. Backup, audit and necessary financial-record retention follow separate disclosed schedules that require hosted verification. See Export and account deletion for steps, exclusions and device limitations.
