Fix syncing problems
Syncing means sending changes saved on your phone to your BaubleStash account so other devices can see them.
If syncing stops, your local changes are usually still safe on the phone. Do not clear app data or uninstall the app.
Check the status banner
Open the mobile app and look at the banner near the top.
“Saved on this device. Waiting to sync.”
Your change is saved locally. The app has not sent it yet.
- Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Keep the app open.
- Select Sync now or tap the banner to try again.
- Wait for All changes saved.
“Couldn't sync. Your changes are saved on this device.”
The connection or BaubleStash is unavailable.
- Check that other apps can reach the internet.
- Turn airplane mode off if it is on.
- Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- Select Sync now.
- If it still fails, try again later. Your local data should remain queued.
“Some changes need attention.”
Another device changed the same record, or a rule prevented the change. BaubleStash keeps your local change until you decide what to do.
- Open More → Needs attention.
- Read what changed, why it was rejected, and what discarding would do.
- Choose Try again if you fixed the cause (for example, a different label or a box that is no longer full).
- Choose Discard my change to keep the server's version instead. This is deliberate: nothing is discarded silently, and the screen explains what will be removed.
- After discarding, the app reloads the server's version. Edit again if you still want a different value.
If the change created a new box or copy that never reached the server, discarding removes that local-only record. Photos attached to that unsynced copy are removed from this phone; export anything you need first.
A conflict is not data loss. The other device's version is on the server, and your rejected text stays visible in the problem message until you choose.
If a change never syncs
- Check whether you are signed in to the correct account.
- Check whether the Free 100-copy limit was reached.
- Check whether the owner revoked access to a shared collection.
- Check whether Plus expired and the change requires an active Plus plan.
- Try a different network.
Cloud photo backup is stuck
- Confirm that Plus is active.
- Confirm that Cloud Photo Backup is enabled in More or Account & Plus.
- Connect to the internet.
- Open the app and select Back up now.
- Keep the app open while the queue drains.
Photos can wait behind other changes. If the queue has not moved, see Plus and subscription problems.
A box or ornament is missing on another device
- Confirm the change synced on the first device.
- Open the second device and refresh or reopen the app.
- Check that both devices use the same account.
- Check whether the item is in a shared collection with different access.
What not to do
- Do not uninstall the app.
- Do not clear application storage.
- Do not delete the stored data on your phone.
- Do not create a second account to work around sync.
- Do not remove local photos before confirming cloud backup.
These actions can permanently remove device-only data.
