Create your first box

A BaubleStash box represents a real place where ornaments are stored. It is not the manufacturer’s original packaging.

You can use boxes for plastic bins, cardboard cartons, shelves, drawers, or any container you can name.

Create the box

Mobile app

  1. Open Boxes.
  2. Select Create a box.
  3. Enter a Box name. Use a name you will recognize months from now.
  4. Optionally add a Location, such as Hall closet · top shelf.
  5. Optionally add a Private note, such as Blue lid. Snow village.
  6. Select Create box.

Website

  1. Open Boxes.
  2. Select Add box.
  3. Enter a Box name.
  4. Optionally add a Location and Notes.
  5. Select Create box.

Give the box a useful name

Good names are specific and repeatable:

  • Hall closet — Box 1
  • Garage shelf — Red tote
  • Christmas Room — Village bin
  • Under-bed box A

Avoid names like Box 1 if you have several boxes in different rooms. If you have dozens of identical containers, put the name and location on the label itself.

Add an ornament to the box

From the box page, choose Assign a copy (web) or Add ornament to box (mobile). Select an existing physical copy, or add a new ornament to the box.

A copy can be in only one box at a time. Moving it to another box removes it from the first box.

Add a label

You have two options:

  • Print a BaubleStash QR label from the website, then tape it to the box.
  • Use an existing scannable code, such as a third-party sticker or a unique code on the container.

A label is optional. You can always open the box from the Boxes list.

See Print and use box labels for the full label workflow.

What success looks like

  • The box appears in Boxes with its location and ornament count.
  • The box page lists the ornaments you assigned.
  • Scanning the box label opens the box (mobile app).
  • Searching My Stash by the box name finds its contents.

If the box label is already in use

Within one BaubleStash collection, one code can belong to only one box. BaubleStash will explain that the code is already assigned. Choose a different code, or open the existing box.
