What works offline
The mobile app keeps a local copy of your stash so you can use it in a store, basement, or storage unit with no signal.
The website is different: it is online-first and needs a connection.
What works in the mobile app without a connection
After you have signed in and synced at least once:
- Open My Stash
- Search ornaments, makers, item numbers, and boxes
- Open ornament and copy details
- Add a private ornament
- Add a physical copy
- Create or edit a box
- Move a copy between boxes
- Edit condition and notes
- Scan barcodes already saved on the device
- Scan box labels already saved on the device
- Take or view local photos
What needs a connection
- Refreshing the shared catalog information saved on your phone
- Accepting or using a shared collection
- Sending a sharing invitation
- Uploading new cloud photos
- Viewing cloud photos that are not already on the device
- Sending a catalog contribution
- Verifying a Plus subscription
- Downloading a box label PDF from the website
Your phone searches the catalog information it has saved. If nothing matches, BaubleStash reports no match from your phone instead of claiming the ornament does not exist.
How local saving works
When you make a change offline, the mobile app stores it on the phone first. The status banner explains what is happening:
- Saving changes… — the app is working.
- Saved on this device. Waiting to sync. — your change is safe locally.
- Couldn't sync. Your changes are saved on this device. — the connection or BaubleStash is unavailable.
- All changes saved. — the app is caught up.
- Some changes need attention. — there is a conflict or a change BaubleStash could not accept.
No warning is normal when everything is already saved.
Sync after reconnecting
- Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Open the app.
- Wait for the automatic sync, or select Sync now / Try sync.
- Confirm the warning banner clears.
If you close the app before syncing, your local changes stay queued for next time.
Cloud photos and the connection
Cloud Photo Backup needs a connection. If you take photos offline, they remain on the phone and may show Waiting to back up.
Do not remove the local photo until you have confirmed it is backed up and visible on another device.
Sharing and offline access
Shared collections need a connection. The mobile app may show an unavailable message if you are offline or if the owner revoked access.
Your own My Stash remains available offline.
Protect your local data
- Keep the app installed while you still need device-only photos.
- Do not clear app storage to fix a sync problem.
- Do not uninstall the app as a troubleshooting step.
- Back up important photos to your phone’s photo library or enable Plus cloud backup.
- Keep the same account when signing back in.
